Princess Diana death: Prince Charles and Mohamed Al Fayed contacted by police probing SAS murder claim

A letter given to the Royal Military Police alleges that the SAS was "behind Princess Diana's death" and refers to the princess's "secret diary" in which she made certain allegations

Police probing the sensational claim that the SAS killed Princess Diana have contacted Prince Charles and Mohamed Al Fayed.

The Metropolitan Police said they are also contacting Lord Justice Scott Baker, the senior judge who presided over the inquest into her death.

The claims were passed to Scotland Yard by the Royal Military Police (RMP), which was told of them by the former parents-in-law of a former soldier based on information that the ex-soldier had talked about in the past.

A letter given to the RMP alleges that the SAS was "behind Princess Diana's death", according to the Sunday People, and also refer to the princess's "secret diary",in which she made certain allegations.

The letter claimed the soldier was the special forces member who was the former housemate of Sergeant Danny Nightingale, who was found guilty of illegally possessing a gun and ammunition.

Diana, Dodi and chauffeur Henri Paul died after their Mercedes crashed in a Paris tunnel after it left the Ritz Hotel on the morning of August 31, 1997.

Diana, mother of William and Harry, was 36 at the time of her death, while Dodi was 4
